Grant Information

The Mount Vernon ISD Education Foundation was created to fund creative and unique educational programs and projects that will enhance the quality of education for students and staff of Mount Vernon ISD.
 
Individuals or teams of individuals employed by MVISD who are involved in the instruction of students are eligible to apply. Grants of up to $1,000 may be awarded to individual applicants, and grants of up to $2,500 may be awarded to team applicants. 

Selection Criteria


MVISD Education Foundation seeks to fund grants meeting the following criteria. Grants should:
  1. Enhance the existing academic program, curriculum, guidance or counseling functions of the Mount Vernon ISD. 
  2. Enrich, rather than duplicate or replace, the current curriculum and educational structure of the Mount Vernon ISD. 
  3. Reflect the goals of MVISD and have the support of a campus principal and appropriate curriculum personnel. 
  4. Engage and impact a broad number of students and have lasting educational value. 
  5. Incorporate innovative and creative teaching and/or learning. 
  6. Be evaluated by some measure of quality, and be expanded and replicated if successful.
MVISD Education Foundation will not fund grants designed to:
  1. Replace public funding of school programs or serve as a substitute for normal budget growth and maintenance.
  2. Fund teacher stipends or substitute teacher fees. 
  3. Fund workshop fees or travel expenses for district employees.
  4. Fund tools/equipment and consumable items that should be provided for in the school budget, standard classroom supplies, or maintenance and facilities costs. 
  5. Fund student field trips. 
  6. Provide food and drink of any kind, unless they are critical to the project’s success. 
  7. Fund non-specific expenses. Budgets must be clearly defined and listed with exact pricing. Please supply the source of your price quotes.

Application Submission Process


01 Application

Application forms are available in the MVISD campus offices and online at mvisdeducationfoundation.org

02 Submission

Grant Applications may be submitted on or before Friday, September 29, 2023 by 4:00 p.m. to the campus office. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Approval

All grant applications must be approved by the campus principal and the district technology director, if required.

Review

Submitted grant applications will be reviewed anonymously by members of the Mount Vernon ISD Education Foundation Grant Committee during October 2023. Applicants will be notified of decisions on or before October 2023.

Additional Selection Information


Mount Vernon ISD Education Foundation strives to grant as many quality applications as possible, but operates on the financial generosity of the community and a limited funding budget. Grants are awarded at the sole discretion of the Foundation. Please keep in mind that not all applications can be approved.
Materials purchased through the funding of grants by the Mount Vernon ISD Education Foundation are the property of MVISD and are to be used for classroom purposes only.
Please notify the Foundation if you transfer to another campus or leave MVISD. Grant recipients transferring to other MVISD campuses will be allowed to transfer funded grants only with the approval of both campus principals. Grant recipients leaving MVISD will forfeit funds and grants.
